i was unsure about the wisdom of buying boots over the net as I have a wide foot with a high instep. I measured the larger of my feet by placing a dressmaker's tape on the floor with one end against a wall. I positioned my heel against the wall and let that foot take my body weight. Based on that measurement I ordered a pair in JP/Size 27.0. When they arrived I thought initially that they were too small as it was a struggle to get them on. However, with wear they have broken in and fit well; tight enough to provide ankle support and flexible enough to walk in comfortably. The armour looks like it would provide good protection; there is armour both sides of the ankle and on the outside of the foot about halfway between the toes and the heel. I hadn't considered the vulnerability of that area until I saw the armour. The toe sliders are a bit superfluous for me and I will just have to live with the shame of unscuffed sliders in order to have good protecton. Although the boots are not ventilated I have worn them in hot weather without problems. These boots offer a lot of protection for the price and I would be happy to buy other Komine boots online.
